Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring one of the most unusual love triangles in literature, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the essence of what it means to be human.

BEST STEPHENIE MEYER BOOK EVER !! Best ending too! Definitely gonna watch the movie on opening day and I seriously cannot wait for the sequel in a year or two.

Wow. How come it took me so long to finally pick this up? This has got to be the best Stephenie Meyer book ever. It's nothing like Twilight and the way Stephenie wrote this book is totally mind-gripping and it leaves you reading it all night and it makes you think, it makes you cry.

Explaining the plot of the book is very complicated. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of humans and they possess their bodies. At this time, the earth is at peace, no violence, no wars -except for the resistance- honesty, and kindness. Wanderer, who invades Melanie's body has trouble being in her body. Melanie fills Wanda's thoughts with visions of Jared and soon enough Wanda and Melanie set off to go find Jared and the people they love.

Wanda and Melanie are both very strong. Melanie isn't like any other humans that had been invaded. She stays in Wanda's thoughts and sometimes, she can control her body when necessary. Wanda is so self-sacrificing and she is very kind to the humans even though she faced many threats and almost gotten killed by the resistance. But over time, they see each other as sisters.

Now for the love square. It's not a love triangle, but a square. Ian loves Wanda and Jared loves Melanie. Let me point out that, when Ian and Jared saw Wanda/Mel, they both either slap her or threatens her. Over time, Ian develops feelings for Wanda and even though Melanie disapproves of it, Wanda too have feelings for Ian. Then there's the jealousy of Jared and vice versa.

Long story short, I loved this book and also loved the movie. I recommended you read this. It's full of romance, sci-fi, and a thought-provoking story that will leave you breathless.
