Series: The Madman's Daughter #2

To defeat the darkness, she must first embrace it.

Months have passed since Juliet Moreau returned to civilization after escaping her father's island—and the secrets she left behind. Now, back in London once more, she is rebuilding the life she once knew and trying to forget Dr. Moreau’s horrific legacy—though someone, or something, hasn’t forgotten her.

As people close to Juliet fall victim one by one to a murderer who leaves a macabre calling card of three clawlike slashes, Juliet fears one of her father’s creations may have also escaped the island. She is determined to find the killer before Scotland Yard does, though it means awakening sides of herself she had thought long banished, and facing loves from her past she never expected to see again.

As Juliet strives to stop a killer while searching for a serum to cure her own worsening illness, she finds herself once more in the midst of a world of scandal and danger. Her heart torn in two, past bubbling to the surface, life threatened by an obsessive killer—Juliet will be lucky to escape alive.

With inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, this is a tantalizing mystery about the hidden natures of those we love and how far we’ll go to save them from themselves.

Since this doesn't come out until 2014, I won't give anything away.

This book picks up months after Juliet left/escaped from the island from book one. So now, she's back in London without Montgomery and with the help of Professor von Stein, she’s settling back into the real world.

Even though she has returned, her illness is getting worse. Her father’s serum is starting to lose affect and she has to find a cure. As people starts being murdered by a creature that leaves slashes, Juliet starts to worry that some of the things she left on the island have followed her.

There are so many twists in this sequel and especially in the end. Like how many shocking twists can you come up with in 100 pages?! There’s definitely more action in this than the first book and we get to see familiar faces again but I’m not gonna tell you because you all have to wait and see.

In the middle, I just died. My heart, and then the tears, and then me running around the house. I can’t say much but this GIF represents it.

AND THEN THE ENDING!! Let’s just say it was a cliffhanger but not one of those that’s like OMG OMG! But one’s that are like “what will she do” and “we have to wait another year for this?”

You will not want to miss this action packed, sick, beautifully written, so many twists and turns!
